1. Detangle before the shower
Work through tangles gently, starting at the ends and moving upward. Sophie brushes her wavy hair before washing. If dry brushing is uncomfortable for your texture, detangle with conditioner during the wash instead.
Detangle without pulling through knots.

2. Oil the lengths, if you want a pre-wash step
Smooth a little jojoba oil through the lengths and ends. Sophie leaves her oil in for at least 30 minutes before washing. This step is optional; you do not need to mix several oils or put essential oils on your scalp.
Sophie works oil into the ends.

3. Wet thoroughly and shampoo
Soak the hair, spread shampoo between your hands, and work it into the scalp. Rinse well. Repeat only if oil or buildup remains. Sophie uses several shampoos; you can use one formula rather than copying all of those layers.
Spread shampoo before applying it to the scalp.

4. Condition and clip the hair up
For the hair mask application, smooth your conditioner or mask over the lengths and ends. Clip the hair away from your body and leave it for the product’s stated time. Rinse it out fully before finishing the shower.
Keep the conditioning product mainly on the lengths.
5. Wash your body
Use body wash with your hands or a soft silicone brush. Work gently over the skin and rinse well. Avoid repeatedly scrubbing the same area. A second full-body wash is not necessary if the first has cleaned your skin.
Use a gentle touch with the body brush.
6. Exfoliate or shave only if needed
If using a scrub, massage lightly and rinse. For shaving, apply shaving cream first and use a clean razor with light strokes in the direction of growth. You can skip exfoliation on shaving days, particularly if your skin gets irritated.
Sophie applies shaving cream before using her razor.
7. Apply your hair leave-in
After the shower, spread leave-in conditioner through the lengths. Sophie follows with mousse and gel for her waves. If using those stylers, scrunch them into sections and let the hair dry without repeatedly handling it.
Sophie applies her wave-styling products while the hair is wet.
8. Moisturize your body
Start your post-shower body care while the skin is still slightly damp, then spread body lotion over it. Give dry areas a little extra attention. Sophie layers lotion, oil, and butter; start with one moisturizer and see whether you need anything else.
Body lotion goes on after the shower.

9. Finish your face routine
If your face is already clean, apply your usual moisturizer and lip balm. Add sunscreen for daytime. Sophie includes several serums first; use only the ones already established in your routine rather than introducing all of them together.
Sophie includes sunscreen in her daytime finish.
10. Add fragrance, if you use it
After your skin is dry, apply a small amount according to the fragrance label, avoiding irritated or freshly shaved areas. Sophie discusses perfume oil followed by spray. One fragrance, or none, is enough if that is what you prefer.
Fragrance is an optional final step.
