1. Take your evening shower

Xara begins her shower roughly an hour before bed. Wash with comfortable warm water, then rinse and pat dry. Keep the shower short enough that you still have time for the rest of your routine.

The shower marks the start of Xara’s evening routine.

2. Apply body lotion

Smooth lotion over slightly damp skin, including dry areas on your arms and legs. Let it settle before getting dressed. Xara layers several body products; a moisturizer that works for you is enough to begin.

Moisturize after washing while the skin is still slightly damp.

3. Cleanse your face

Remove makeup and sunscreen, then gently wash your face and rinse. Use a second cleansing step only if needed to remove what you wore. Xara uses a rice-based cleanser; use your own familiar formula.

4. Moisturize your face and lips

Finish your evening skincare routine with your usual facial moisturizer, then lip balm. Keep any established treatment in its prescribed or labeled place in the routine. Skip adding several new serums at once. Xara finishes her skincare with a moisturizer and a lip mask.

Moisturizer comes near the end of her skincare sequence.

5. Change and wind down

Put on comfortable pajamas. If you enjoy tea, make a caffeine-free cup you already tolerate and sit somewhere comfortable. Xara uses tea as a cue to slow down. You do not need to copy her supplements or buy a special sleep drink.

Xara settles down with a drink after changing.

6. Floss, then brush

Clean between your teeth with floss, guiding it gently against each tooth. Brush for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste. Xara includes both in her routine. Finish your dental care after your last food or drink for the evening.

Flossing comes before brushing in this sequence.

7. Write briefly, then turn out the lights

For a short bedtime journaling routine, write down what is on your mind or one thing you need to remember tomorrow. Close the notebook when you are done. Keep a consistent bedtime and put screens away at least 30 minutes before it. Adults aged 18–60 generally need at least seven hours of sleep.

A short journal entry closes the routine.
